MSA West Conference

The MSA West Conference is an annual three-day event held on a university campus in collaboration with the Muslim Student Association on campus. It features keynote speakers, workshops, and discussions on topics relevant to college-aged Muslim students. This conference provides an opportunity for students across the state to build community, network with their peers, and engage with community leaders working in the Muslim community worldwide

It serves as a space for Muslim students to gain knowledge, reconnect with their community, and navigate their experiences as Muslim Americans. Additionally, the conference allows students from across the West Coast to gather at a different university in California each year, giving both current and prospective students an accessible way to explore various campuses.

Servant Leadership Summit

The Servant Leadership Summit is an annual training program designed to bring together the newly elected student boards from all affiliated Muslim student groups for a weekend of leadership development. The summit focuses on introducing student leaders to the principles of Islamic servant leadership while also training them in organizational best practices, institutional power building, crisis management, financial planning, and chapter development.

Our approach to addressing students' spiritual needs is rooted in understanding the role of spirituality in supporting socioemotional health and positive identity formation. By holistically addressing the diverse needs of Muslim students and investing in student leaders, we cultivate generations of healthy, talented, and community-oriented leaders.

Islamic Sacred Activism Cohort

The ISA Cohort, or Islamic Sacred Activism Cohort, is a program for Muslim college students interested in policy, advocacy, and organizing through an Islamic lens. Islamic Sacred Activism refers to political activism inspired by Islamic beliefs and values, mobilizing religious principles and practices to drive social, political, and economic change. The goal is to create a more just and equitable society in accordance with Islamic teachings.

The purpose of the program is to develop Muslim students into Islamically principled, civically educated, and well-trained leaders within their communities.

Mentorship Program

Manara West offers a program that connects college students with alumni from the same field and major to provide mentorship and support in their academic and career development journey. Mentors meet with their mentees once or twice a month, offering one-on-one support to answer questions, provide advice, and, if applicable, offer referrals.

Qiyams

Manara West organizes annual regional Qiyams during Ramadan, bringing together students from across Southern and Northern California to strengthen their spiritual connection to Islam. These gatherings feature inspiring talks by esteemed speakers and provide opportunities for collective worship and reflection.

Tajdeed Retreat

The Manara West Tajdeed Retreat is a spiritually rejuvenating weekend for Muslim college students, set in the tranquility of nature. This retreat offers students the opportunity to step away from the distractions of daily life and reconnect with Allah (SWT), His divine creations, and a like-minded community. Through reflective discussions, immersive outdoor experiences, and meaningful connections, students leave feeling spiritually refreshed and re-centered in their faith and purpose.

Regional Socials

Manara West Regional Socials are thoughtfully designed gatherings that bring together Muslim students from Northern and Southern California to foster unity and connection. These events provide opportunities to build suhbah (companionship) in an environment rooted in Islamic values, allowing students to form meaningful relationships, strengthen their sense of community, and share experiences aligned with their faith. By bridging geographical divides, these socials cultivate a strong network of support and camaraderie among Muslim students across the region.

Regional Councils

Monthly council meetings bring together representatives from each affiliated Muslim student organization, providing a space for information sharing, collaboration, and connection across the SoCal and NorCal regions.

Healing Circles

Manara West Healing Circles, held in partnership with respected Muslim mental health organizations, provide Muslim college students with a supportive space to process and heal from challenging experiences and major life events. These circles foster connection, resilience, and spiritual grounding in a compassionate, Islamically centered environment.

Rapid Response Support

Rapid Response Support provides immediate assistance to Muslim students facing urgent challenges on their campuses. Whether responding to crises, advocacy needs, or unforeseen obstacles, we offer critical resources, strategic guidance, and direct support to help students navigate difficult situations. Through legal consultations, media and communications strategy, mutual aid, and coordination with campus and community partners, we ensure that students receive the timely aid they need to continue their organizing and education with confidence.

Advocacy Council

The Manara West Advocacy Council brings together Muslim student organizers from campuses across the region to collaborate, strategize, and address key advocacy and organizing needs. Through this council, students share insights, develop coordinated campaigns, and leverage Manara West’s resources to amplify their efforts. By fostering a unified network of student leaders, the Advocacy Council strengthens Muslim student representation and ensures impactful, campus-wide initiatives that advance justice and community empowerment.

Emergency Mutual Aid

Our organization provides Emergency Mutual Aid provides vital support to Muslim student organizations during crises and to college students navigating global health or wellness emergencies. Whether responding to campus disruptions, political turmoil, or widespread public health challenges, we mobilize resources to ensure students and their organizations receive timely assistance. Our aid helps sustain advocacy efforts, maintain student well-being, and strengthen community resilience in times of need.
